In his spare time, Stephen L. Nelson enjoys both winter (alpine and nordic) skiing and water skiing. During the warmer weather he is a competitive water skier entering numerous local, regional and National Tournaments. In 2006 he won the National Water Ski Tournament, Men's 6 Trick Title. He has been a member of the National Ski Patrol since 1967 and served as a volunteer ski patroller of Welch Village for over 42 years.
He has served on various non-profit boards over the years, and has
volunteered his time and services. He incorporated and served as an original
board member of St. Paul Partners, a Minnesota non-profit corporation that
was organized to help provide hygiene education and clean water to the
African nation of Tanzania. St. Paul Partners also provides the resources,
technical support and equipment to drill wells in rural Tanzania. Stephen
also currently serves as the managing trustee for a client's private
foundation.
